BIOGRAPHY
Laura Leggett Linney was born in New York City, on February 5, 1964. Daughter of the playwright Romulus Linney, from an early age, she was involved in the world of theater. She graduated from Brown University in 1986; she studied acting at Juilliard and the Arts Theater School in Moscow. She participated in works such as Hedda Gabler, The Witches of Salem and Six Degrees of Separation. In the early 90s she began with small roles on the big screen. She participated in The Oil of Life (1992) and Dave, President for a Day (1993). Afterwards she followed Cuentos de la Ciudad (1993), More Tales from the City (1998) and Peculiar Neighbors (2001). Her first major role was in Two Sides of the Truth (1996), followed by Absolute Power (1997) and The Truman Show (1998). Her performance in You Can Count on Me (2000) earned her an Oscar nomination. Major opportunities followed, including The Haunting House (2000) and Kinsey (2004), for which she received another Oscar nomination. Among her latest projects are the television series Ozark (2016) and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and the films Nocturnal Animals (2016) and Sink Sank Sunk (2017). In 2021, Laura was nominated again in the Best Actress shortlist at the Golden Globes for her performance in Ozark .
